A new chapter in the Philippine construction, building, and design industry begins with the official launch of the Building Pride Council (BPC), a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)-registered, non-stock, non-profit professional association dedicated to advancing inclusive leadership, professional excellence, ethical practice, innovation, and collaboration across the built environment.

Established by a group of industry leaders and advocates, the Building Pride Council aims to unite architects, engineers, interior designers, developers, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, consultants, project managers, business leaders, and allied professionals under one shared vision: to build a stronger, more inclusive, and globally competitive industry where every professional has the opportunity to thrive, contribute, and lead.
At a time when the construction and building sector continues to evolve through technological advancement, sustainability, and changing workforce dynamics, the Council believes that people remain the industry’s greatest foundation. By embracing diversity, strengthening professional collaboration, and nurturing ethical leadership, the organization seeks to help shape a more resilient and future-ready built environment.
“The strongest foundations are built not only with concrete and steel, but with integrity, collaboration, and people who are empowered to lead,” said Karlo Calleja, Founder and Chairman of the Building Pride Council. “The Building Pride Council was created to bring professionals together, celebrate diverse perspectives, foster innovation, and create opportunities where everyone can grow professionally and contribute meaningfully to the future of our industry.“
Unlike traditional professional organizations that focus on a single discipline, the Building Pride Council adopts a multidisciplinary approach by bringing together professionals from architecture, engineering, construction, interior design, manufacturing, real estate, technology, and related industries. The Council will serve as a platform for networking, leadership development, mentorship, continuing education, knowledge-sharing, advocacy, and strategic partnerships.
While proudly advocating for the visibility, professional growth, and empowerment of LGBTQIA+ professionals and allies, the Council emphasizes that its membership is open to all individuals and organizations who share its commitment to professionalism, diversity, inclusion, collaboration, ethical leadership, and excellence.
The Building Pride Council is led by its founding leadership composed of:
- Karlo Calleja – Founder and Chairman, Industry & Partnerships
- Ar. Harvin Julius Lasquero – Founding Director, Research, Innovation & Knowledge
- Ar. Beejay Florendo – Founding Director, Membership & Professional Development
- Engr. John Carlo Lopez – Founding Director, Advocacy & Policy
Together, the founding leadership envisions Building Pride Council as a catalyst for meaningful industry transformation—one that promotes collaboration over competition, strengthens professional relationships, encourages innovation, and creates opportunities for every sector of the built environment.
As part of its three-year roadmap, the Council will launch professional networking events, leadership and mentorship programs, industry forums, technical learning sessions, sustainability initiatives, advocacy campaigns, strategic research collaborations, and flagship industry events that encourage innovation, technology adoption, and inclusive growth.
The Council will also establish dedicated leadership platforms and communities, including the LGBTQIA+ Professionals and Allies Network, Women Builders Board, Future Builders Board, and Global Filipino Builders Board, creating opportunities for mentorship, leadership development, and greater representation across the profession.
Looking beyond the Philippines, Building Pride Council intends to strengthen partnerships throughout the Asia-Pacific region by collaborating with professional organizations, academic institutions, government agencies, private corporations, and international industry associations to promote knowledge exchange, regional cooperation, and cross-border innovation.
As the Building Pride Council begins its journey, it carries a simple but ambitious vision: to become one of the country’s leading professional communities where diversity inspires innovation, collaboration drives progress, and leadership is measured not only by achievement, but by the positive impact created for the industry and society.
Together, we are building more than structures. We are building leadership, opportunity, belonging, and a better future for the built environment.
